Pulaski hammers Cerro Gordo-Bement 14-2 with Fricke and Kelly
leading the way

The Mount Pulaski baseball team was back in action Tuesday afternoon
at Cerro Gordo and the team picked up a huge 14-2 win on the road.
Ben Fricke and Todd Kelly were a tag-team wrecking crew at the plate
for the Hilltoppers. Fricke was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a
game-leading 5 RBIs. Fricke also crushed his second home run of the
season. Kelly went 2-for-2 at the plate with 3 runs scored and 4
RBIs. Grant Davis was 1-for-1 at the plate for the Hilltoppers and
he batted in a run. Patient at the plate, Davis drew three walks.
Brandon Kretzinger completed the Hilltoppers offense by going
1-for-2 with an RBI.
Mount Pulaski starter Tanner Farris had another great outing on the
mound and picked up the win. Farris tossed four innings and allowed
two runs on three hits. He struck out five batters and walked two.
Grant Davis pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Davis' short work
included two strikeouts.
Mount Pulaski Coach Joel Washko was very happy with this road win
for the Hilltoppers.
“Tanner Farris gave us a great start and set the tone by pitching
out of a first and third no out jam in the first. Our hitters did a
good job of being patient and taking walks when given to them. Todd
Kelly and Ben Fricke had big games for us at the plate and they both
are really seeing the ball well for us. Very nice team win for us on
the road," concluded Coach Washko.
