Food Demonstration Day Held

LINCOLN
Logan County 4-H
recently held its annual Oral Communications Contest and Food
Demonstration Day. Public Presentations State Contest
representatives selected included Cavit Schempp (Formal Speech),
Atlanta; Sarah Starasta (Oral Interpretation), Lincoln; and Daniel
Crider (Illustrated Speech), Lincoln. All were blue award winners.
Molly Schempp from Atlanta, also a blue award winner, was selected
as the top oral communicator for her Extemporaneous speech and
received a plaque sponsored by Country Financial – Joe Ryan.
Additional contest participants included blue award winners Hannah
Crider, Original Works, Lincoln; Mary Carlock, Extemporaneous
Speaking, Bloomington; and red award winner, Stephen Starasta, Oral
Interpretation, Lincoln. Judges for the Oral Communication Contest
were Megan Lutz, of Warrensburg, and John Malone, of Bloomington.
Food Demonstration Day participants included Jamie Carlock, Mary
Carlock, Winton Carlock, Joessa McGinnis, Cavit Schempp and Molly
Schempp. All were blue award recipients. Brenda Silano from Lincoln
served as judge for food demonstrations.
Oral communication is a life skill taught and practiced in 4-H. To
