LINCOLN

Residents of the City of Lincoln,

With the change in weather many citizens will begin mowing, weed eating, trimming and overall seasonal yardwork. The City of Lincoln would like to remind its residents to please refrain from depositing any yard waste in the streets, alleys, sidewalks and gutters.

Discharging debris including grass clippings, leaves, branches, gumballs etc. into the city right of way can cause storm drains and lines to become clogged when rain washes the debris into or on top of the storm drains. When wet, it can also potentially create a dangerous driving condition on the streets.
Finally, it is a violation of the Lincoln City Code Pursuant to section: 8-3-8

8-3-8: ALLEYS, GUTTERS KEPT CLEAN:

It shall be the duty of every person owning or occupying any lot or parcel of land adjoining any public or private alley in the city to keep the same clean and in an inoffensive condition, and also keep the gutter in front, behind, or beside the premises owned or occupied by him, or under his control, free from filth or other offensive matter, including, but not limited to, landscape waste or leaves, that may prevent the free flow of water therein.

[to top of second column]

No property owner, occupant or any other person shall place, rake, or blow any leaves or landscape waste in any of the public street gutters adjoining their property owned, occupied or at which a person is working for hire or as a volunteer. A violation of the provisions of this section shall result in a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than four hundred dollars ($400.00) for each offense. (Ord. 674, 4-21-2008)

The City of Lincoln provides a suitable place for yard waste disposal, free for city residential use. The Landscape Waste Facility is located at 957 Broadwell Dr. It’s current hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. until 3:50 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Please keep in mind the care of City Streets as well as your neighbor’s properties while involved in your yard work. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
