McDonald's U.S. same-restaurant sales beat estimates

[April 30, 2018]    (Reuters) - McDonald's Corp reported a higher-than-expected 2.9 percent rise in quarterly sales at established U.S. restaurants on Monday, benefiting from menu price increases and a rise in customer visits.

Analysts had forecast first-quarter sales of 2.73 percent at U.S. McDonald's restaurants open at least 13 months, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Net income rose to $1.38 billion, or $1.72 per share, from $1.21 billion, or $1.47 per share, a year earlier.
