[August 07, 2018]  On Saturday the Open Beef Show produced another repeat winner as Ashlyn Hickey took the Grand Champion Steer Award, just as she did in the 4-H Show on Thursday.

Ashlyn took the award after winning the Cross Breed Medium Weight Class earlier in the day.

Up against some tough competition, Wade Knobloch was awarded the Reserve Champion Award with his crossbreed steer. Earlier in the day, Wade had won the Champion Crossbreed in the Heavy Weight Division, meaning that Ashlyn and Wade went head-to-head for the final championship.

The Grand Champion Steer Award was sponsored by Ag Land FS, Inc. – Kevin Kurtz. Hanner Cattle Company provided the award for the Reserve.

Open livestock shows at the Logan County Fair are not subject to county lines. Those participating in these shows are typically from the immediate area, but also from surrounding counties and from time to time from several counties away. The fact that our local youth were going up against showmen from throughout the region once again speaks well of the quality of youth in our community and also the quality of animal.
