LINCOLN

Lincoln Christian University (LCU) and President Dr. Don Green are excited to announce the promotion of Christian Lowry to the position of Director of Athletics (AD). Lowry, a graduate of LCU, has been promoted to the helm of the LCU Athletic Department after serving as the Athletic Coordinator for the last three years. He will replace Nathaniel Smith, who, after serving two years as the Director of Athletics at LCU, has accepted a positon in the athletic department at the University of Northern Iowa.

"We are delighted that Christian is willing to accept this assignment as LCU's Director of Athletics” stated President Green. “He has proven himself to be a capable administrator and coach in collegiate athletics and a strong advocate for student athletes. We are confident that he will serve LCU very well in this role for many years to come."

Lowry joined the Red Lions in June of 2015 as Athletic Coordinator. In this position, Lowry coordinated all day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities of the athletic department. He provided direct oversight of the Laughlin Center, managed the sports information and athletic marketing responsibilities, and served as administrator-on-site for all home athletic contests. Lowry came back to LCU after working one year as an Operations Coordinator at the University of Detroit-Mercy (UDM), an NCAA Division I member institution. While at UDM, he assisted with all facets of the facilities and event operations department, from game day duties to equipment operations and day-to-day facility needs.

“I want to thank Dr. Don Green, Brady Cremeens, and the entire LCU community for the support they have given me” stated Lowry. “I would also be remiss if I did not thank Nathaniel Smith for his investment in LCU athletics. We have made significant improvements over the last few years on and off the playing field. It is an exciting time to be a Red Lion and I feel very fortunate to be entrusted with this responsibility. As we look to take the next step as an athletic department, we will make sure our mission remains the same. A mission that exists to provide student-athletes the opportunity to grow in Christian character, servant leadership, academic excellence, and athletic achievement. I believe the main role of any athletic director, is to serve their coaching staff and to serve the student-athlete. I look forward to doing that to the best of my abilities.”

Lowry graduated from LCU with his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in the spring of 2014 and will graduate with a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University in 2019. He also serves as LCU’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Lowry and his wife Melissa Lowry reside in Lincoln and have two sons, Elam who is 2 years old, and Anson who is 10 months.
