LINCOLN

The pressing need to find a new Logan County Supervisor of Assessments has at last been resolved.

The Logan County Board had a difficult time finding the right person to replace Supervisor of Assessments Denise Martinek, who completed her duties at the end of her term.

In June 2014, the Logan County Board unanimously appointed Denise Martinek (right) to the position Supervisor of Assessments. Martinek began working in the Assessor’s Office in 2012 and assumed the role of Supervisor on Aug 1, 2014. She replaced Roseanne Brosamer (left).   Jennifer Campbell was not present on Tuesday evening when the board voted unanimously to appoint her the next Supervisor of Assessments. Her four-year-term begins September 24, 2018.

While only serving the Assessor’s Office four years, since the retirement of former Assessor Roseanne Brosamer in June 2014, Martinek has made her mark and accomplished much. Her work has included interactive developments with the Geographical Information System, the new Enterprise Zones, TIF Districts, and values. She’s worked well with other related offices and is highly valued by the other county department heads, and she’s professionally earned some acclaim from other assessors at the state level for her skills.

No wonder it was a struggle for the Logan County Board to find just the right person, Martinek is leaving some big shoes to fill.

The board conducted two different searches, enlisting outside assistance and broadening the call each time, yet no candidates found suitable in either June or July.

A third search was launched with the application process closing on Aug. 14th. Interviews were conducted that night in executive session during the monthly Finance Committee meeting.

When the Logan County Board held its Regular Board meeting on Tuesday, August 21, Finance Committee Chairman David Hepler motioned to appoint Jennifer Campbell as the Supervisor of Assessments. The board unanimously approved hiring Campbell with nine members present: Kevin Bateman, Emily Davenport, Janet Estill, David Hepler, Gloria Luster, Chuck Ruben, Bob Sanders, Scott Schaffenacker and Annette Welch. Dave Blankenship, Bob Farmer and Gene Rohlfs were absent for the evening.

Campbell would begin her term of office on September 24, 2018 at a salary of $65,500 each year for the four-year-term.

Board Chairman Chuck Ruben said Campbell has been to the Assessor’s Office and asked the other employees many questions. Ruben said Campbell is a good choice for the position and said her contract will be sent out soon.
