[August 25, 2018]  Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the 499th goal of his professional career on Friday night in a 1-1 tie against visiting Los Angeles FC at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

Carlos Vela scored on a penalty kick as LAFC (12-7-7, 43 points) rallied for the tie in the third El Trafico meeting of the season. LAFC moved into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference, three points behind first-place FC Dallas.

The Galaxy (10-9-8, 38 points) moved into a tie for fourth place with Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy are winless in their last five matches (0-2-3).

Goalkeeper David Bingham made six saves for the Galaxy, who are 1-0-2 versus LAFC this season. Tyler Miller made three saves for LAFC.

Ibrahimovic's goal in the 15th minute was originally ruled to have not crossed the line but was quickly changed to a tally after a video review.

Ibrahimovic sent a right-footed close-range shot to the right of Miller, and defender Danilo Silva made a clearing attempt as the ball reached the line. The video review displayed that the ball had completely crossed the line prior to Silva booting it away.

Ibrahimovic had a solid shot at career goal No. 500 in the 20th minute, but his right-footed shot caromed off the left goalpost.

LAFC had a strong tying attempt in the 45th minute, but forward Diego Rossi's left-footed shot was narrowly wide to the left.

Vela scored the equalizer for LAFC in the 51st minute after he was fouled in the penalty area by Galaxy midfielder Perry Kitchen.

Bingham went to his right in anticipation as Vela delivered a left-footed rocket into the top center of the net to tie it.

LAFC had a solid chance to take the lead in the 72nd minute as midfielder Benny Feilhaber broke in on goal. Bingham was out of position and down on the ground, but his swing at the ball knocked it away before Feilhaber could shoot at the unattended net.

LAFC forward Latif Blessing sent a left-footed blast just over the top of the net in the 84th minute.

Ibrahimovic took eight of the Galaxy's 13 shots. LAFC got off 15 shots.
