[August 28, 2018]    Ricky Fowler was not among the players listed Monday who will be in the field for this week's Dell Technologies Championship, reserved for the top 100 players in the FedEx Cup standings.

Fowler missed The Northern Trust, the first leg of the playoffs, while recovering from an oblique injury.

The 2015 FedEx Cup champion, Fowler is currently 22nd in the points race. The top 70 players after this week's event will qualify for the BMW championship the following week. The top 30 players after that event will qualify for the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta, which concludes five days before the start of the Ryder Cup in Paris.

The Dell Technologies Field currently stands at 98 players, with Italy's Francesco Molinari also not in this week's field after The Open champion missed the cut at The Northern Trust. There are no alternates added for playoff events.

Fowler earned one of the eight automatic qualifying spots on the United States team, and wrote in an Instagram post last week that his focus is on getting fully recovered in time for the Ryder Cup.

Fowler reportedly played through the injury in his past two tournaments, and he admitted after the third round of the PGA Championship that he would need time off to allow the condition to improve. He led after the first round at Bellerive Country Club but ultimately finished in a tie for 12th.

"My team and I feel like it's best not to play next week in the Northern Trust," Fowler wrote last week. "I will be back healthy and competitive ASAP for the FedEx Cup and more than ready for the Ryder Cup!!"
