Lincoln Family Theater hosts Competitive Video Gaming event Sunday

Buckle up and strap in, Lincoln Family Theater of Lincoln, will be providing one of the nation’s very first competitive video gaming looks at the highly acclaimed and anticipated Nintendo Mario Super Smash Brothers Ultimate on Sunday December 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. The game was officially released to the public on Friday, December 7th.

Referred to as Magic Circle E-sports, these competitive gaming events will be scheduled monthly throughout the year. “We could not be more excited to be kicking off our enterprise level of competitive video gaming, offering this specific, hot game,” says gaming specialist Billy Campbell. “People around the midwest will be watching us.”

Lincoln Family Theater looks to utilize a number of strategic advantages to make their new competitive video gaming a success. Built within just the past three years, the Lincoln Family Theater features state of the art projections, screens, sound, and seating.

Primarily though, LFT will leverage it’s tremendously unique geographic location. Over one million people live within a 40 minute drive of Lincoln, in cities including Bloomington, Peoria, Springfield, and Decatur. These gaming players can quickly and easily attend and return from the event and take advantage of close, easy, free parking next to the theater. “It’s a gaming players’ car-pooling dream,” says Campbell.

Remote gamers can catch morning trains, spend up to ten hours in Lincoln at the tournament, and return that evening. They can take advantage of internet access on Amtrak trains to and from.

Players at such competitive events will spend six to ten hours on-site, playing, watching, and interacting with new friends from around the state. Lincoln Family Theater will be running their regular show times for those wanting to take a break from video gaming. An extended theater menu will include hand-tossed pizza, burgers and hotdogs.

“This is the kick-off event for what will be our regular year-round video gaming tournaments,” says Marilyn Altman, Lincoln Family Theater Operations Manager. “Our state of the art theater and our unmatched strategically central location will make us home to the regions competitive gaming. I can see gamers in Chicago challenging those from St. Louis, meeting at the halfway mark right here in Lincoln.”

Participants and non-participants alike can enjoy the community area with board and card games, or catch a movie in one of our seven movie houses including LFT’s Miracle Movie Ministries FREE movie for that day, “War Room’ beginning at 10:00 a.m. Entrance into the Magic Circle eSports event is free to spectators.
