On Saturday shoppers
enjoyed an opportunity to grab up some wonderful baked goods at the
annual Humane Society of Logan County Cookie Sale.
Orders were taken in advance of the sale day and the HSLC had
several dozen cookies ready for those who had placed those
pre-orders.
|
In addition, there was a long table
of pre-packaged cookies as well as pies, cakes, cupcakes, bread and
much more, all reasonably priced and ready to be grabbed up and
taken home. |
|
|
For the shoppers who wanted to
choose their own assortments cookies were lined up on trays to see
and choose what best suited for their needs. |
|
In all it was a busy morning that
started at 8:30 a.m. and progressed into early afternoon. Volunteers
kept an eye on all the selections to make sure the tables were
neatly maintained. Some volunteers manned the checkout table, while
others yet tended to the pre-order boxes and provided shopping bags
for those who made multiple purchases.
At the end of the day the HSLC sold 500 dozen cookies and earned a
whopping $4,400. |

The baked goods offered by the HSLC
are all donated, so the proceeds went to fund the coming year's
operating costs at the HSLC. The center is run with one paid shelter
manager and all the rest of the labor is provided by volunteers.
Money raised goes to help keep the lights turned on and also to help
provide food and care for all the animals at the shelter. |

The HSLC is grateful for any and all
donations and on their website, they publish a list of items that
are in daily demand. Anyone wishing to buy a "Christmas gift" for
the dogs and cats at the shelter can get some really good ideas from
that list. The shelter also accepts monetary donations.
