[December 27, 2018]    Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba had successful surgery to repair a ruptured right pectoralis muscle on Wednesday and is expected to miss at least three months, the team announced.

Dumba sustained the injury Dec. 15 in a loss against the Calgary Flames. He had 22 points in 32 games and led all defenseman with 12 goals when he was injured.

"It really hurts, there's no question," Wild general manager Paul Fenton said recently on the team's official website. "I was really glad at the way our defense was playing. We had balance on there. But now we've got some guys that have to get used to (new partners), get continuity and become acclimated."

Dumba, 24, entered the NHL as a teenager during the 2013-14 campaign and has spent all of his five-plus seasons with the Wild. He has 150 points (56 goals, 94 assists) and 184 penalty minutes in 342 games.
