[December 29, 2018]    Right-hander Matt Shoemaker has signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced Friday.

The deal is worth $3.5 million, according to Sportsnet.

A right forearm injury has limited Shoemaker to 21 starts and 108 2/3 innings over the past two seasons.

Shoemaker went on the disabled list with a forearm strain after his first start of 2018. He made six starts in his return to the Los Angeles Angels late last season, but never pitched more than five innings.

Shoemaker, 32, has spent his entire six-year career with the Angels, though he made just one start in 2013. He made at least 20 starts in each of the following three seasons and had a career year in 2014 when he went 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA.

For his career, Shoemaker is 40-32 with a 3.93 ERA.
