Lady Lynx Win Again

The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team ran their winning streak to six in-a-row Wednesday evening with a 96-50 win at home over Mid-West Athletic Conference and Region 24 foe Danville Area Community College. The victory pushes the team’s season record to 18-1 on the season and 3-0 in Region 24 play.

Lincoln’s outstanding run has been again recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with a number 12 ranking in the latest NJCAA DII National Poll.

The Lady Lynx were in control from start to finish against Danville. LC led by 24 points at halftime and enjoyed their largest lead of the night in the second half at 94-43.

Sophomore Erynn Young (Indianapolis) was once again the leading scorer for Lincoln. Young poured in 28 points, going 12 of 19 from the field. She also managed to pull down 8 rebounds and collect 7 steals.

Three other Lady Lynx who had big offensive nights included freshman guard Allysha Boothe (18 points), freshman forward Kaleia Monteiro (17 points, 15 rebounds) and sophomore guard Nautica Preston (16 points).

LC Coach Matt Vavro praised his team’s performance. “I thought we shared the ball really well, especially in the 2nd half as we ended with 18 assists,” said Vavro. “We pulled down, I believe our season high in rebounds with 61 and everybody that dressed scored,” he added.

Lincoln will continue their home stand with a 5:30 PM game this evening against the Greenville College JV team.
