The Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team snapped a two-game losing skid on Saturday by defeating the visiting Illinois Central College Cougars 81-70.

LC used a strong defensive effort in the first half to hold ICC to less than a 40% shooting percentage from the field and took a 42-27 lead into halftime. The Cougars heated up some in the second half, but were never able to close the gap enough to threaten the LC’s lead.

A major factor in the game was Lincoln’s ability to get to the foul line. Lynx free throw shooters went 17 of 25 as compared to the 9 of 16 free-throw performance by the Cougars.

Sophomore guard Trayvon Tyler (Rockford) led all scorers with 20 points. Tyler also led the team in assists (5) and steals (3).

Lincoln (18-3) will be in action next on Wednesday evening at Lincoln Land. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
