Swimmers & Divers Split Squads, Both Find Success

The Lincoln College Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving teams competed at separate events on Saturday. The swimmers traveled to a dual meet at Millikin University (NCAA DII), while the divers were in action at the University of Illinois at Chicago (NCAA DI) Diving Invite.

At the Millikin swimming invite, the Lynx men came out on top of MU 103-62, while the women fell by an overall score of 83-27.

Top point scorers for the men at this event were Marko Dominovic (Croatia) and Oakley Johns (Fiji). Both swimmers earned 18 individual points. Dominovic placed 1st with a season best time in the 500 freestyle, as well as the 200 Backstroke. Johns came out on top in both the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 IM.

Colleen Ferguson (Marshal Islands) was once again the top point scorer for the Lady Lynx with 18 points. Ferguson won the 200 Backstroke, and the 50 Freestyle. UB Misech (Paulau) was close on her heals scoring 13 points and winning the 100 Freestyle event.

At the UIC Diving Invite, sophomore Maddy Chrsitenson (Grand Blanc, MI) was the top diver for the Lynx. Christenson finished in 16th place in the Women’s 3M with a score of 189.05 and in 18th place in the Women’s 1M with a score of 170.95.

Lincoln Head Coach Jonathan Jordan said, “The team is swimming very well for this time of the year. We are seeing many season best times which is a great thing to see with nationals just 30 days away.”

The Lynx Swimming and Diving team will be in action for their last regular season meet on February 9th & 10th at Olivet Nazarene University at 6:00pm.
