[February 16, 2018]   LINCOLN - It happens every year, a lovely dress is purchased for the prom. It is worn beautifully by a certain young lady, then it is deposited in the closet, not to be worn again.

It's no small wonder. These dresses are designed for specific occasions, and no young lady wants to go to two years worth of proms in the same dress.

But, what to do with those dresses hanging in the closet? How about donating them to a very good cause, and at the same time, allowing that lovely gown to have an extended life?

You can do both. Prom dresses can be donated for resale and benefit a great new program at the Lincoln Community High School at the same time.

Anyone wishing to give a dress for a good cause can bring gowns to Small Town Creations at 205 South Sangamon Street in Lincoln. Dresses may be dropped off Wednesday through Friday between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday's between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Dresses may be consigned for a 50 percent commission that will be donated to Moms Who Care, or the dresses may be donated, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the organization.

Dresses should be recently cleaned and free of stains or tears.

On Saturday, March 31st from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Small Town Creations will host a Prom Dress Re-Sale Expo. Anyone wishing to secure a dress for this year's prom season at a fraction of the cost of brand new should plan on stopping in at the expo.

Anyone who has questions about the sale or how to donate a dress should contact Kathie Williams at 217-737-1634 or by email at smalltowncreations16@gmail. com.
