[February 20, 2018]  The Colorado Rapids signed midfielder Enzo Martinez from the club's USL affiliate Charlotte Independence on Monday.

Martinez, 27, was the 17th overall pick in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake in 2012. He was traded to Colorado in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2021 draft.

After spending two years with the Carolina RailHawks in the NASL, the Uryguayan national scored 29 goals in 79 appearances with the Independence over the past two seasons.

"Enzo has really stood out for us this preseason," Rapids general manager Padraig Smith said in a statement. "He's been with us from the first day of training camp and has impressed everyone with his quality and work ethic. His resume at the USL level speaks for itself and we're looking forward to seeing what he can do in Major League Soccer."
