2017 Crop Yield Reports released

[February 26, 2018]    The National Ag Statistics Office has released 2017 corn and soybean yields by county on February 23.

The state average corn yield was 201 bushels per acre, compared to the 197 bushel per acre average of the 2016 season.

The 2017 yield average for Logan was 213.0 bushels per acre. By comparison, last year Logan County averaged 219.4. The record yield was the 2014 yield of 230.8 bushels per acre for Logan.

Top corn yield counties were:

Warren - 246.7 bu/A
Mercer - 238.7
Carroll - 238
Marshall - 230.7
Stark 230.4 bu/A

McLean had the top county production for corn with 68,276,000 bushels for the county. Production in Logan County was 38,830,000 bushels on 182,300 acres harvested. The new 10 year average corn yield is 183.57 for Logan County.

The state soybean average yield was 58 bushels to the acre, falling just shy of the 2016 average of 59.

Top counties were:

Sangamon - 70.3 bu/A
Piatt - 69.4
McLean and Tazewell - 66.8
Moultrie - 66.4.

Logan County averaged 64.7 bushels per acre, falling short of the established record of 66.6 achieved in 2016. Logan County production was 10,087,000 bushels from a harvested acreage of 155,800.

The new 10 year average yield for soybeans is 56.85 in Logan County.
