Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers defeat Sullivan in Friday action at the St. Teresa Tournament

MOUNT PULASKI

The Mount Pulaski boys basketball team improved to 10-3 on the season with a 62-30 win over the Sullivan Redskins Friday afternoon in the 2017 Team Soy Christmas Tournament at Decatur St. Teresa High School.

The Hilltoppers defense dominated the Redskins and held them to just four points in the first quarter while Gezus Oliver was a one-man wrecking crew tossing in 20 first quarter points.

At halftime the Hilltoppers led 38-12 over the Redskins with Oliver leading the attack with 25 points.

Mount Pulaski continued to dominate on defense in the third quarter and again held Sullivan to just four points.

By the time the final buzzer sounded the Hilltoppers had crushed the Redskins 62-30.

Oliver finished with 27 points. Brandon Kretzinger tossed in eight points for Mount Pulaski.

Post tournament note:

Mount Pulaski finished the Decatur St. Teresa Tournament with a 2-2 record and earned fourth place on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.

It was in the last game of this tournament that Peyton Taylor reached his mile marker 1,000 points with a career total of 1,018 and counting.
