[January 26, 2018]    The Miami Marlins traded outfielder Christian Yelich to the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday for outfielders Lewis Brinson and Monte Harrison, infielder Isan Diaz and right-hander Jordan Yamamoto.

ESPN reported last month that Yelich's relationship with the Marlins was "irretrievably broken" after the team dealt away top players such as Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna and Dee Gordon to cut payroll.

Yelich, 26, now joins the Brewers, who missed the playoffs by one game last season, while the Marlins unload yet another large salary. Yelich is due $43.25 million over the next four seasons, with a club option for $15 million in 2022.

The five-year veteran played 311 of a possible 324 games over the past two seasons, batting .290 with 39 homers and 179 RBIs.

--Super-agent Scott Boras is fed up with the current state of Major League Baseball.

In a telephone interview with The Athletic published Thursday, Boras sounded off on this offseason's inactivity, blaming the amount of teams choosing intentionally to be noncompetitive in order to get better draft picks as reason for the frozen market.

"I do my job. I care for my clients. I am spending every waking hour trying to bring attention to owners so they act with integrity," Boras said. "Certainly I want them to sign my clients. But I'm trying to get them to act with integrity. Winning is the cement of baseball integrity."

--Right-hander Michael Fulmer is expected to arrive at spring training without restriction after September elbow surgery, according to Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila.

Fulmer, the American League Rookie of the Year in 2016, is expected to get the call Opening Day for the Tigers with Justin Verlander moved in a trade with the Houston Astros last season. Fulmer went 10-12 with a 3.83 ERA last season.

"He's thrown out to 180 feet with no restrictions and no setbacks, so right now he's on track to be 100 percent coming into spring training," Avila said at a luncheon with Detroit sports media.

--Jose Reyes will return to the New York Mets for another season, his 12th with the team, according to multiple reports.

Reyes' one-year deal, which is pending a physical, is expected to be worth about $3 million. He is expected to fill a utility role, with the team still searching for a regular second baseman.

The 34-year-old spent his first nine seasons in the majors with the Mets, garnering four All-Star nods in the process.
