LINCOLN

Relay for Life of Logan County held a pizza party kick-off on Monday, January 22. The group welcomed Janelle Jennings, Community Development Manager from the American Cancer Society office in Springfield as their liaison.

During the meeting the 2018 Theme chosen was “Let’s kick cancer out of the game” – suggested by John David Dietrich. The day of Relay was scheduled as an inside event for 1 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Lincoln College. A goal of $62,000 has been set to be raised. Already over $4135.34 has been turned in by teams already registered. Teams are encouraged to choose a game at each Team Table for participants to enjoy during the event. There will also be a Live Auction and a Silent Auction among other activities to be announced later.

Teams are encouraged to register and anyone wanting to be on a team can call
Debbie Cooley, Carolyn Motley or Lesleigh Bennett or register on-line. Those collecting $100 by May 16 will receive a Relay T-Shirt.

Luminaria to honor or in memory of someone can be purchased by calling Bill Post: 217-732-7564.

Survivors are encouraged to register on-line or by calling Tonita Reifsteck, (217-855-1645 or 217-732-9796) or Esther Boward (217-445-2627) so that a Survivor Shirt can be ordered. Survivor registration must be done each year, so past registered survivors need to register again for 2018.

Invitations to the Survivor Dinner to be held in the Old Gym of Lincoln College on Wednesday, June 13th will be sent to those registered.

The next meeting will be 6 p.m. on February 26th at Lincoln Christian Church. Prior to that new teams are welcome to sign up and anyone wanting to sponsor RFL are invited to contact Cheryl McGill at cmcgill7936@hotmail.com

Please consider being a part of this year’s Relay for Life, through team participation, donation, or sponsorship. The dollars we bring in do matter, and together we can “Kick cancer out of the game!”
