[January 29, 2018]    The #5 ranked Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team came out on the wrong end of their Region 24 match-up with the #3 ranked Parkland College Cobras on Saturday. The Lynx were held to their lowest point total of the season as they went down 70-49. The loss drops the team’s record to 17-2.

The game was a rematch of the Region 24 Final from 2017, which Parkland won. There was a large crowd on hand to witness the first meeting of the two teams this season. The spectators on hand could not have been disappointed in the defensive efforts made by each team. Neither team was able to generate much offense in the first half, but Parkland managed to take a ten-point lead into the break (34-24). The second half was just as fiercely contested, but Lincoln was unable to find ways score often enough to erase their deficit and wound up taking the 21-point loss.

Sophomore guard Trayvon Tyler (Rockford) was the only Lynx to score in double digits with 10 points going 4 of 15 from the floor. Roland Austin (South Bend) added 7 points and Louis Griffiths (Washington) had 6.

Lincoln Coach Pat Lepper found several positive takeaways from the loss. “We played well on the defensive end of the court,” he said. “To hold them to just 70 points is encouraging, and we now have some clear ideas of what we need to work on in order to be able to score enough to compete with the top teams in our Region,” Lepper added.

LC will try to bounce back on Wednesday evening as they host Danville Area Community College at 7:30 p.m.
