[January 29, 2018]    Erynn Young scored 22 points and four other Lady Lynx scored in double digits to help the Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team defeat the #18 ranked Parkland College Cobras 81-57 on Saturday. Young, a sophomore guard from Indianapolis, Indiana, also pulled down 10 rebounds and had four steals.

Lincoln College Coach Matt Vavro was pleased with his team’s preparation going into this important Region game. “We got off to a great start and that is always a plus when you play on the road in a tough environment,” he said.

Vavro pointed to the Lady Lynx defensive effort as a key to their success. “We out rebounded them by 18, and our defense forced 23 turnovers which allowed us to get out in transition,” said Vavro.

Foul trouble looked to be an issue for LC in the early going, but some quality minutes from reserve players Emoni Smith (Indianapolis) and Grace Schroeder (Gilman) made the difference. Smith would end the game with 13 points and Schroeder wound up leading the team in rebounds with 11.

The win improves Lincoln’s record to 18-1 on the season and 2-0 in Region play. For LC’s next game, they will host Danville Area Community College on Wednesday January 31st at 5:30 p.m.
