[July 05, 2018]    Spencer Gallagher, who served a two-month suspension after a failed drug test, was reinstated by NASCAR on Wednesday.

The sanctioning body announced that Gallagher completed the required Road to Recovery program.

GMS Racing announced that it would restore Gallagher to the No. 23 Chevrolet for the Xfinity Series race at Kentucky Speedway on July 13. Chase Elliott will be behind the wheel of the No. 23 car this Friday for the Xfinity race at Daytona International Speedway.

Gallagher, 28, earned his first career Xfinity win April 28 at Talladega Superspeedway, then was suspended days later for violating NASCAR's substance-abuse policy.

He tweeted Wednesday, "Time for the next chapter boys and girls. Been a tough road, but it's through adversity that you learn true strength. Can't thank the entire garage, the fans and everyone at @GMSRacingLLC enough for their support through this. See you guys at Kentucky #nowbacktoit"

GMS president Mike Beam said, "The whole GMS organization is very proud of Spencer (Gallagher) for getting reinstated after completing NASCAR's Road to Recovery program after the results we received post-Talladega."

Gallagher has slipped from seventh to 14th place in the Xfinity standings during his suspension, but he is not eligible to make the playoffs due to the punishment.

He has a combined five top-five finishes in 49 Xfinity Series starts and 59 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts.
