[July 11, 2018]   LINCOLN - For their July exhibit, Logan County Arts will collaborate with the Blue Connection Art Gallery of Decatur. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 12 from 5 to 8 pm at the Lincoln Art Institute, 112 S. Mclean St., Lincoln.

The Blue Connection exhibit will include works in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, prints, and ceramics. All participating artists are affiliated with Millikin University and will include alumni Madison Ciaccio, Sydney Doherty, and Christina Davis.  Current Millikina art students Lea Cameron, Michael Holmberg, Jacob Lakin, Adam Macke, and Stephen Gardner will also show their works.

Millikin alumna Madison Ciaccio is excited that her work will be traveling around and catching the eye of new viewers. “Knowing that new people will be seeing what I create really motivates me to keep working and exploring new ideas,” she says.

The Blue Connection is located at 117 North Water Street in Decatur. As an extension of Millikin University, it allows students to have the experience of running a professional gallery in a safe, learning environment. Art students are also assured of a public commercial venue to show their work.

After the opening reception, the Blue Connection exhibit will be available for viewing on weekends from 1 to 4 pm for the rest of July. Also available at the July 12 opening will be information on the August, 2018 exhibit, in which LCA members will show their own new works. Non-members can also show artworks in that exhibit by paying a small display fee. Anyone interested in doing this should contact Moses Pinkerton at 217-651-8355 for more information.
