The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois
State Police District 9:
WHAT: Emergency Plane Landing/ Crash involving passenger vehicle
WHERE: I55 south bound mile post 132.5 (Just south of Exit 133 for
Lincoln)
WHEN: Wednesday July 11, 2:37pm
VEHICLES: Unit 1: Black/ Yellow Cessna single engine plane
Unit 2: 2016 Gray Chevrolet Malibu
DRIVERS: Unit 1: William J Farnsley, 51yo male, Austin, IN
Unit 2: Campwerth, Jeremy L., 42yo male, O’Fallon, IL.
PASSENGERS Unit 2: 9yo male, O’Fallon, IL.

PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigation indicates Unit One was attempting to land
at Logan County Airport. For unknown reasons, Unit one lost power and was forced
to make an emergency landing in the south bound lanes of I55 at approximately
mile post 132.5. During the landing, the plane struck a passenger vehicle
causing minor damage to the automobile. The plane traveled through the median
and came to rest on the left shoulder of the north bound lanes. The plane
suffered damage to the landing gear and was towed from the scene. No injuries
were reported.

CHARGES: Pending Investigation.
