[July 18, 2018]   LINCOLN - The Lincoln Community Theatre summer season will conclude with the ensemble musical Working, based on the book by Studs Terkel, directed by Lincoln’s own Dan “Mac” McLaughlin.

The show will run for two weekends, with shows at 7:30 p.m. July 20-21 and July 27-28 and at 2 p.m. July 22 and 29 at the Johnston Center for the Performing Arts at Lincoln College.

Working has long been acknowledged as a show that celebrates “the hopes, dreams, joys and concerns of the average working American,” according to Musical Theatre International who licenses the performance rights. “Working paints a vivid portrait of the men and women that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman and the housewife, just to name a few.”

Dan “Mac” McLaughlin returns to LCT to direct Working as a labor of love. “It’s about US,” he shares. “The show doesn’t show the big moments in life, but rather the reality of life. It’s not so much the American Dream, but rather the American way of life.”

McLaughlin is also pleased to make the show a family affair, working side-by-side his son and daughter-in-law Tom and Brittney in this production as well as several other families whose members make up this amazing cast who wear many hats, sometimes literally, in this production.

The cast includes: Karyn Blumhagen, Brian Bolton, Sadie Bolton, Sheralyn Bolton, Zildjian Bolton, Linda Cole, Claire Conrady, Mike Higgins, Jacqueline Keysear, Logan Keysear, Michael Lovett, Tom McLaughlin, Kim Peterson-Quinn, Derek Rademacher, Kirby Rodgers, Steve Schreiber, Lauren Stanfield, Rebecca Stein and Cari Wilmert.
