For those who may think that farming is a breeze, check this out. Matt Short of Central Illinois Feed in Emden and Jo Parr of Mason City were hard at work this week baling alfalfa. Those who have done this work can easily testify that it is hot, itchy, heavy labor. This year with the lack of rain the cut alfalfa is particularly dusty as well. But at the end of the day, sore arms, achy backs, and sunburns result in a few wagons full of hay that will help sustain cattle through the winter. Any cattle farmer will tell you that it is well worth it.
