[July 26, 2018]  MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES: GANDER OUTDOORS 400 (160 laps, 400 miles around a 2.5-mile three-turn triangular oval), Pocono Raceway; Long Pond, Pa.

TV: Sunday, 2:30 p.m. ET (Green flag approx. 2:50 p.m. ET) -- NBCSN (Radio: Motor Racing Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90).

THIS WEEK: It's a trip back to one of the longest tracks on the schedule, "The Tricky Triangle" at Pocono Raceway. With only three turns, each with a different radius and banking and each straightaway a different length, it's a unique challenge for the 21st of 36 points races this season and second at the track since the beginning of June. ... This will be the 82nd race at Pocono, dating back to Richard Petty's win in 1974. ... Kevin Harvick won the rain-delayed race last week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, his sixth win of the season, the most in the series. ... Harvick has never won at Pocono. ... Martin Truex Jr. won the race here in June while Kyle Busch won the July race last season. They have four wins, and five, respectively. ... *Busch leads the points standings with 844, followed by *Harvick (791), *Truex (740), *Joey Logano (679), Kurt Busch (646), *Clint Bowyer (638), Brad Keselowski (635), Kyle Larson (606), Ryan Blaney (584) and Denny Hamlin (583). ... *Erik Jones is in 14th (501) and *Austin Dillon is in 19th (378) and inside the playoff cutoff.

THIS WEEK: The 19th of 33 races on the season is on tap as the series makes its second trip to Iowa in six weeks. ... Iowa Speedway, designed partially by NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, opened in 2006 and hosted its first Xfinity race in 2009. The series has raced there twice a year since 2011. ... Ryan Preece won this race last year, with Justin Allgaier going to Victory Lane in June. ... Christopher Bell got his third win of the season last week at New Hampshire. ... THIS WEEK: The Trucks are at Pocono for the only time this season, racing a rare Saturday matinee. ... This will be the 14th of 23 races this season and the ninth for the series overall at Pocono. ... Christopher Bell won this race last season. ... Chase Briscoe, ineligible for the championship, won last week at Eldora Speedway. ... *Johnny Sauter leads the Truck standings (554 points), followed by *Noah Gragson (522), *Brett Moffitt (474), Grant Enfinger (458), Stewart Friesen (449), Matt Crafton (437), *Ben Rhodes (425), *Justin Haley (421), Myatt Snider (338) and Cody Coughlin (324). VERIZON INDYCAR SERIES: HONDA INDY 200 AT MID-OHIO (90 laps, 203.22 miles around a 2.258-mile 13-turn permanent road course), Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course; Lexington, Ohio.

THIS WEEK: After a week off, the series heads to the last race before its stretch run of the season, with four races in five weeks after Mid-Ohio starting on Aug. 19. ... There have been 34 races featuring Indy-style cars at Mid-Ohio since 1980. ... The series will have run 13 of its 17 races this season at the conclusion of Sunday's event. ... Josef Newgarden won this race last year. ... Scott Dixon won the race two weeks ago on the street course at Toronto, his third victory of the season and lengthening his points lead with just five races remaining. ... It is Dixon's championship to lose as the New Zealander leads the standings (464 points), followed by Newgarden (402), Alexander Rossi (394), Ryan Hunter-Reay (373), and Australian Will Power (371) rounding out the top five.

THIS WEEK: After a thrilling win in the German Grand Prix by Lewis Hamilton, the championship is breaking down into a two-man race between Great Britain's Hamilton and German Sebastian Vettel. ... Next up is Hungary, on a bumpy and usually dusty course that keeps drivers honest. ... The first race at the Hungaroring was run in 1986 and won by the legendary Nelson Piquet. ... Vettel won this race last year. ... This is the 12th of 21 races this season and the last before the long summer layoff until racing resumes at the Belgian Grand Prix on Aug. 26. ... Hamilton leads the standings in his Mercedes with 188 points, followed by Vettel, Ferrari (171), Finland's Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari (131), Finland's Valterri Bottas, Mercedes (122) and Australia's Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull (106).
