70th Anniversary
Fritz and Betty Onken

[June 19, 2018]  Frederick (Fritz) Onken and Elizabeth Marie (Betty) Cunningham were united in marriage on June 20, 1948 at the Easton Methodist Church by the Reverend Fred Foster.

Attending them were Fay Cunningham, Rosalyn Heye Vehslage, Pat Fager Hovey, Eileen Onken Bramwell, Ken Smith, Robert Onken, Eldred Sidebottom, and Albert Krause, Jr. Flower girl was Gretchen Heberling. Soloist was Emily Smith Ingersoll. The bride’s brother, Bob Cunningham, escorted her down the aisle.

The Onkens spend the majority of their working lives farming in Mason County, including Fritz being Farm Manager for Ainsworth Seed Company from 1965 to 1996. Betty worked part-time at the Cunningham Agency in Mason City.

They are the parents of Deb (Ken) Schweitzer of Lincoln and Jay (Erin Marshall) Onken of Toney, Alabama. They have five grandchildren: Adam (Katie) Schweitzer of O’Fallen, Hilary (Spence) Kelly of St. Charles, MO; Elizabeth, Jacob, and Michael Onken, all of Alabama. They are blessed with four great-grandsons: Caleb and Austin Schweitzer and Wyatt and Alex Kelly.
