LINCOLN
The first of the season Third Friday Downtown Lincoln was held on
June 15th. In spite of the heat, it was a great kick-off to the 2018
season, Alderman Tracy Welch said at the Monday evening meeting of
the Lincoln City Council.
He noted that the games and activities for kids were well received,
and a lot of people enjoyed the music of Harmony G.R.I.T.S. There
were also good food offerings that visitors enjoyed.
He noted that for the first time this year, the bags tournament was
‘self-ran’ and that was also a good thing.
Welch said the heat was a little hard on some, and there was one
incident with a person overheating. He said next month there will be
some water features that will allow for cooling off if it is hot.

Welch said Monday night that he wanted to acknowledge and thank all the
volunteers who make the event possible as well as city staff such as the Lincoln
Police Department and other city departments for helping and keeping watch. He
noted that the contributions of local sponsors is also greatly appreciated.
The next Third Friday event is scheduled for July 20th and the theme will be
Adventure Night.
Welch who serves on the Third Friday planning Committee said that there is still
plenty of room for local sponsorships. He said they make the sponsorships
affordable for all local businesses, the cost to sponsor is only $100 and that
gets the sponsor name on all promotional materials and also a sign around the
stage area.
