NFL notebook: Packers' Cobb could miss training camp with ankle injury

[June 26, 2018]  Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb could miss part of training camp with a right ankle injury.

Cobb was wearing a boot on his right foot at a golf outing over the weekend.

NFL Network reported Monday the eight-year veteran is expected to be ready for Week 1 and might only be limited for a portion of training camp, which begins next month.

The Packers are counting on Cobb to be the No. 2 receiver behind Davante Adams. Jordy Nelson was released in the offseason, and the Packers signed tight end Jimmy Graham. Cobb, 27, was on the field during minicamp and organized team activities. It is uncertain when the injury occurred.

--The Atlanta Falcons signed safety Ron Parker to a one-year contract, the team announced.

Parker spent the past five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He had 67 tackles and two interceptions last season while starting all 16 games. The 30-year-old Parker started all but one of Kansas City's 64 games over the past four regular seasons.

"What drew me here is that I've seen it's a great fit," Parker told the team website of joining the Falcons. "They've got a great team -- got great guys, all around: Special teams, defense, offense. I just think the organization fits my style."

--Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is switching agents, according to a Fort Worth Star-Telegram report, a year before he will be eligible to negotiate a contract extension.

Per the report, Prescott is hiring Todd France of Creative Artists Agency, a group that represents several high-profile NFL players, including Matt Ryan (the league's highest-paid player), Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford, J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald, whom France represents personally. Prescott had been with agent Jeff Guerriero of ProSource Sports since coming out of Mississippi State in 2016.

The former fourth-round pick, who turns 25 next month, will make $630,000 in 2018 during the third year of his rookie contract and will be eligible to sign an extension after the season. Barring a disaster season that damages his value, Prescott will be in for a huge raise on the four-year, $2.72 million deal he signed as a rookie.

--Teams were informed by the NFL that the 2018 supplemental draft would be held July 11.

The draft takes place via digital communication, with teams using a bid system by round and surrendering their corresponding pick in that round in next year's draft if they hold the highest bid. Recent supplemental draft picks include Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon.

The top available prospects include Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal and cornerback Adonis Alexander, who applied for the supplemental draft after being ruled academically ineligible by Virginia Tech.
