At 80 years, Corn Belt Energy
celebrates the past
and looks to the future

Corn Belt Energy Corporation celebrated its 80th anniversary at its
Annual Meeting on June 22 at Central Catholic High School with over
1,500 people in attendance. Attendees enjoyed a special presentation
by local historian, Don Meyer, about the history of rural
electrification and the progression from 80 years ago to present
day. Other activities available included complimentary lunch, bucket
truck rides, educational workshops on a variety of topics, alpaca
petting zoo, safety demonstrations, and several free activities for
children.
Cooperative Board Chairman Rae F. Payne remarked on how Corn Belt
Energy embraces our strong history and continues to evolve and
change to better serve members. Further stating that the cooperative
team of employees and the board of directors are dedicated to
serving the members of Corn Belt Energy and our focus is to provide
a better way of life for our members, our members’ children and
generations to come. Payne also thanked the employees stating, “It
takes knowledge, teamwork and dedication to each and every task, and
our employees are remarkable.” He closed his remarks by thanking the
cooperative members for their involvement in the cooperative and
helping the cooperative celebrate 80 years of history and a bright
cooperative future.
Corn Belt President/CEO Don Taylor, stated that while looking to the
past is important, looking to the future is just as important and
the cooperative is prepared to serve the membership well in the
future.

Reimer of Carlock (District 1), and Denise Mayes of Bloomington (District 1).
He proceeded to provide an update on the cooperative covering topics such as
work plan projects that have been recently completed and will improve
reliability for members, a sampling of new construction projects in the Corn
Belt Energy service area, rate management, electric vehicles, and the importance
of safety. “It is always our goal to provide a safe environment for the public
and our employees,” stated Taylor.
In addition, Rosie Socrates from Bloomington, who was selected as one of four
students to represent Corn Belt Energy at Youth to Washington Tour in
Washington, D.C., this June, spoke to members about the memorable trip and her
unique experience.
During the business meeting, the following Directors were elected to serve
three-year terms: Denise Mayes of Bloomington (District 1), Janice Reimer of
Carlock (District 1), Gary Archey of Clinton (District 4), and Charles
Meisenheimer of Walnut (District 7).
After the business meeting concluded, the Directors held a reorganizational
meeting and re-elected Rae F. Payne as Chairman, Charles Meisenheimer as Vice
Chairman, Albert Hagenbuch as Secretary Treasurer, and Janice Reimer as
Assistant Secretary Treasurer.
