Lincoln College has announced its 2018-19 men’s basketball schedule, which will feature a dozen home games and 18 away games. The schedule also anticipates a pre-season Jamboree at home in October, at a date yet to be set.

The Lynx will kick off their first season playing in the four-year National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with three home games, on Saturday, Oct. 27; Wednesday, Oct. 31; and Wednesday, Nov. 7.

“With this being our first year in the NAIA, I’m very pleased that we are able to start off the season with three home games,” said Pat Lepper, head men’s basketball coach. “This is a great chance for fans to come out and cheer on the guys as they begin their first season playing against four-year schools.

“I’m also excited that we were able to include Lincoln Christian University in the schedule twice, one ‘away’ game on Jan. 17 and a home game on Feb. 5. This should set up a fun cross-town rivalry that I hope will become a new tradition here in Lincoln,” Lepper added.

When the Lynx take to the courts this fall, fans will recognize several popular players who have elected to continue their careers at Lincoln College.

According to Lepper, returning players include All-American and Region 24 Player-of-the-Year Trayvon Tyler and Richard Simpkins, a two-year starter from Bloomington and second team all-league player.

Others returning include starter Roland Austin from South Bend, Indiana; redshirt junior Montez Crumble; returning sophomore Tyrone Wright, a 6’7 forward from St. Louis; redshirt senior Juvon Turner from Chicago; junior Marshaud Watkins of Oak Forest, junior Desmian DeVane, of Chesapeake, Virginia, redshirt sophomore Greg Westbrook of Germantown, Tenn., and redshirt sophomore Roy Humphrey from Chicago.

“I think it will be great for fans in the coming years as they watch our players mature and grow during their college careers,” Lepper said. “With a two-year program, it’s hard to build continuity. Just as the fans get attached to a player, they see them move on. We hope that now we can hold on to some of these outstanding players throughout their college careers.”

The season will open against St. Xavier University on Saturday, Oct. 27, with a 3 p.m. home game. The following Wednesday, Oct. 31, the Lynx will host William Penn University at 7:30 p.m., for a Halloween night game. The team will have the weekend off, before hosting Olivet Nazarene University a week later on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

From there, the team will be on the road for eight games, before returning Dec. 1, for a 3 p.m. match against Indiana University Northwest.
