[March 06, 2018]    The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team was defeated at home in their final game of the 2018 regular season on Saturday. The Lay Lynx fell to the visiting John Wood CC Trail Blazers 64-57. The loss puts the team’s overall record at 25-5 for the year.

The Lady Lynx (#17) were down by just one point at the end of the first quarter (10-9), but were outscored by ten points in the second quarter to go into the break trailing 29-18. LC came out strong in the third quarter and cut their deficit to seven points, but Lincoln was unable to produce enough stops on defense in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback and had to settle for a seven-point loss.

Sophomore guard Nautica Preston (Chicago) led LC in scoring with 20 points. Freshman Kaleia Monteiro (Rockford) grabbed a team high 24 rebounds and scored 5 points.

Lincoln will begin play in the Region 24 Post-season tournament this Friday at Lincoln Land CC. The team enters the tournament as the #3 seed and will face the #6 seed Lakeland College. Game time is set for 6:00 PM.
