[March 07, 2018]   LINCOLN - For their March presentation, Logan County Arts will host a solo exhibition by Bloomington artist Dale Evans. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 8 from 5 to 8 pm at the Lincoln Art Institute, 112 S. Mclean St. Lincoln.

The show will include both retrospective and new artworks, representing the ongoing artistic journey of this established and talented artist. While some pieces are from private collections, other works will be for sale, several at special prices for this show.

Evans is well known in the regional art community for his skill at plein air paintings, completed in a spontaneous style in natural settings. However, he has a keen eye for composition and an able hand with acrylics, oil, watercolor and printmaking, so his realistic and impressionist canvases capture a wide range of subjects. Stylistically, he has found inspiration from many American artists, from Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper and Jane Peterson, to Wayne Thiebaud, Gwen John and the Wyeth family.

A graduate of the Herron School of Art, Indiana University, Evans also has extensive experience in teaching art. He has given numerous workshops at venues such as the McLean County Arts Center and recently provided instructions in watercolor techniques to students in Lincoln. Local musicians also know him as an accomplished luthier, a maker and player of dulcimers and other traditional stringed instruments. One of his instruments will be on display for the current exhibit.

Non-members can also show artworks in this exhibit by paying a small display fee. Anyone interested in doing this should contact Pinkerton for more information.
