On Wednesday afternoon at 3:53 p.m.
Beason Fire, Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District, and Atlanta
Fire Department, and Logan County Paramedics were dispatched to the
Top Flight Grain Elevator at 2140 Clinton Street in Beason in
response to reports of a large boom and fire observed coming out of
the side on one of the buildings.
Beason arrived on scene first and advised that all workers were
accounted for and okay.
Inside was a light haze of smoke and burnt odor however no active
fire was observed.
All units began investigating throughout the structure to find where
the source of the explosion had originated from. There was some
damage observed but nothing in the way of structural damage to the
elevator itself.

Several members from Beason and Lincoln Rural climbed to the top of the elevator
and observed an area where it appeared that a mechanical area at the top had
sustained some damage and had some hot spots that would need to be addressed.

Lincoln Rural set up its 105’ aerial ladder and then connected a hose off of the
end for crews to be able to extinguish the hot spots. Once this was completed
all Lincoln Rural units were cleared from the scene by Beason command.
No injuries occurred to employees or fire department personnel.
