[March 12, 2018]  LINCOLN - Wallace H. Reese, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at The Villas Senior Care Community in Sherman.

Visitation:  4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:   10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16 at the funeral home

Obituary

Wallace H. Reese, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at The Villas Senior Care Community in Sherman.

Wallace was born on March 2, 1935 in Paris, AR, the son of Kermit “Ted” and Margaret (Cox) Reese. He married Nancy Benedict on October 16, 1954 in Chester. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2016.

Wallace is survived by his sons, Scott (Lisa) Reese of Springfield, David Reese of Lincoln, Richard (Carol) Reese of Springfield, and Kenneth (Celista) Reese of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister, Maxine Reese; and his son, Martin Reese.

Wallace loved all things sports. He was a member at The Lincoln Elks Lodge, where he enjoyed playing golf. He could also be found watching Illini basketball games and playing bridge with his friends. He was an excellent bowler, where in college he had bowled a 299 game.

Wallace served on the Board of Directors for The Hope School for many years; he also served on the board as president. Above all else, Wallace loved his family; especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services for Wallace will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Memorial donations may be made in Wallace’s name to Logan County Relay for Life or HOOAH INC.
