LC Swim Wraps Up Season with Strong Showing at Nationals

[March 14, 2018]    The Lincoln College Swimming and diving team recently competed at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Swimming and Diving Championship held at Indian River State College. The Lady Lynx walked away from the National meet in 5th place while the men’s team finished 6th in overall scoring.

 

Freshman Logan Santiago (Bedford, MI) was the sole National Champion for the Lynx. Santiago took first place in 1M springboard diving event. He was also named NJCAA Co-Diver of the year.

Lynx swimmers broke four Lincoln College school records during the competition. Sophomore Miranda Kindhart (Macomb) broke the 50 yard breaststroke record, freshman Colleen Furgeson (Marshal Islands) broke both the 50 backstroke and 100 IM records, and freshman Macoy Neinas of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin now holds the men’s 50 yard backstroke record.

In total, the Lynx walked away from the NJCAA National Championship with 27 All-American individual titles and seven All-American relay titles.

Other honors for the Lynx included Diving Coach Amber Jordan being named NJCAA Diving Coach of the Year, and Head Coach Johnathan Jordan received the NJCAA Dr. Jack Cistriano Service Award.
