Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers baseball opens season with a loss

The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers opened the 2018 baseball season Wednesday afternoon with a home game versus Okaw Valley. The Hilltoppers struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning but the rest of the game belonged to Okaw Valley.

The Timberwolves put 13 runs across the plate in the top of the second inning and added another 7 runs in the third inning to pretty much put the game away early. Mount Pulaski lost by a final score of 26-5 in five innings of play. Ben Fricke led Mount Pulaski with 3 hits, including his first home run of the season. Tanner Farris suffered the loss for Mount Pulaski.

Next game: Mount Pulaski will travel to Assumption on Monday, March 19, 2018 to take on Central A&M at 4:30 p.m.
