Spring roundup: Cardinals C Molina homers twice in win over Marlins

[March 17, 2018]  Yadier Molina went 4-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs to lead a St. Louis Cardinals split squad to a 4-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Friday at Jupiter, Fla.

Molina lined a solo homer to left field in his first at-bat and hit a run-scoring double to left in the fifth inning to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead. He homered again to left in the seventh to account for the final run of the contest.

Derek Dietrich homered for Miami.

Bryce Harper and Matt Adams had run-scoring singles during a four-run sixth inning as Washington defeated St. Louis at West Palm Beach, Fla. Jedd Gyorko homered for the Cardinals.

Corey Dickerson delivered a three-run triple and five of his teammates homered as Pittsburgh outlasted Atlanta in a slugfest at Bradenton, Fla. Ozzie Albies and Rob Brantly each slugged two of the Braves' six blasts.

Blue Jays 6, Phillies (ss) 4

Left-hander Jaime Garcia allowed two hits in five scoreless innings to help Toronto down Philadelphia at Clearwater, Fla. Cesar Hernandez, Cameron Rupp and Pedro Florimon all homered for the Phillies.

Rays 11, Twins 1

Johnny Field homered and had four RBIs and Denard Span drove in three as Tampa Bay trounced Minnesota at Fort Myers, Fla. The Twins were out-hit 16-4 and committed three errors.

Mets 4, Orioles 4

Right-hander Jacob deGrom struck out eight and gave up just one hit in five innings as New York tied Baltimore in a nine-inning game at Port St. Lucie, Fla. Tim Beckham and Anthony Santander homered for the Orioles

Tigers 6, Phillies (ss) 6

Victor Reyes drove in the tying run with an infield single with two outs in the ninth inning as Detroit tied Philadelphia at Lakeland, Fla. Victor Martinez went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Tigers, while Ryan Flaherty homered and had three RBIs for the Phillies.
