[March 29, 2018]  What best describes your life? Are you surviving, or thriving???

Sometimes we find ourselves in a season of survival. We get through our shift at work. We pay the bills that we can pay. We do our best to meet the needs of our loved ones. We cope with our losses and anxieties, and some of us cope better than others! We make it through the day. We survive!

It’s not pretty and it’s not fun but it’s reality… there are many times we meet the end of the day or the week or the month with not much left. Physically and emotionally and spiritually we are just plain spent… but we survived!!!

We know quite a bit about survival. We’ve “been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt!”

Thankfully, we were created for more than survival! God created us to thrive and in Him we can thrive!

I’d like to know more about thriving, wouldn’t you?

I’d like to have first-hand knowledge/experiential knowledge, about the abundant life that Christ promises us in John 10:10 “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Christ makes it possible for us to transition from mere survival to an abundant and thriving life!

I want to make it to the end of the day and do more than say: “Well, I survived… hope I can make it through tomorrow.”

I want to meet the end of the day with gratitude and with expectancy: “Thank You Lord… I was glad to be Your ambassador today… I can’t wait to see what seeds we are going to plant tomorrow! Thanks for giving me a reason to get out of bed!”

[to top of second column]

An individual who is thriving is an individual who has a greater purpose, and the greatest purpose was given to us by the Risen Christ not long after Easter:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19 & 20

Easter is coming, and Easter makes all the difference in our little discussion. Easter is the difference between surviving and thriving! Without the resurrection there is no “greater WHY” or “greater purpose” or “Great Commission.” Without the Resurrection we just do our best to make it through each day and then we die. We survive until one day we don’t.

Because of the resurrection we have purpose and life and abundant life and sustaining life that death cannot conquer. That’s not just good news… it’s the best news!

Christ is Risen… He is Risen Indeed… Hallelujah!
