Pulaski Hilltoppers defeat Eisenhower 7-3

The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers
baseball team managed to squeeze in a game this week despite the
weather not being in everyone's favor. Mount Pulaski hosted
Eisenhower on Bob Gasaway Field Friday afternoon.
The Hilltoppers got another fine pitching performance from junior
Logan DeRight and claimed the 7-3 win over the Panthers. DeRight
(2-0) tossed six and a third innings, allowing six hits and two
earned runs. DeRight struck out six batters and allowed one walk.
The Panthers didn't score on DeRight until the final inning.
Tanner Farris entered the game in relief in the 7th inning and he
slammed the door on the Panthers on just four pitches. Farris was
able to record a strikeout and induce a ground ball in getting the
final two outs for Mount Pulaski.
The Hilltoppers pounded out 11 hits in the win. Freshman Drew Martin
had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs
scored.
Tanner Farris was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Ben Fricke was
2-for-2 with a run scored.
Todd Kelly, Grant Davis, Austin Killion and DeRight also had hits
for Mount Pulaski.
Following the game, Mount Pulaski Coach Joel Washko was pleased with
his team's performance. "Logan did a great job," said Washko. "He
threw a lot of strikes and let our defense make plays. He ran out of
gas in the 7th inning but Tanner shut the door. It was a great team
effort with seven different guys getting hits."
Mount Pulaski improves to 2-3 on the season. The Hilltoppers are
scheduled to play at home on Monday versus New Berlin. First pitch
is set for 4:30 p.m. at Bob Gasaway Field.

On Tuesday the Hilltoppers are scheduled to play at Williamsville at
4:30 p.m.
