Logan County State’s Attorney reports on recent court cases

[May 01, 2018]  The following cases have concluded in prison sentences: Radespiel, Gutierrez, Richards, Parker, and Elwood

People v. Markus Radespiel, 17 CF 83: On March 20, 2018, Associate Judge William Workman accepted a fully negotiated plea agreement sentencing Markus Radespiel to 23 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a class X felony. Markus Radespiel must serve 85% of this sentence before he is eligible for Mandatory Supervised Release (formerly known as parole). This offense carries a term of Mandatory Supervised Release for a period of 3 years to natural life.

People v. Guillermo Gutierrez, 16 CF 167: On March 20, 2018, Associate Judge William Workman accepted a fully negotiated plea agreement sentencing Guillermo Gutierrez to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a class X felony. Guillermo Gutierrez must serve 85% of this sentence before he is eligible for Mandatory Supervised Release (formerly known as parole). This offense carries a term of Mandatory Supervised Release for a period of 3 years to natural life.

People v. Scott Richards, 17 CF 178: On April 3, 2018, Associate Judge William Workman accepted a fully negotiated plea agreement sentencing Scott Richards to a term of 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Deliver, a class 1 felony.

People v. Brad Parker, 17 CF 47 and 17 CF 137: On April 3, 2018, Associated Judge William Workman accepted a fully negotiated plea agreement sentencing Brad Parker to a total of 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The sentence imposed 3 years in prison for Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Certificate, a class 2 felony, in 17 CF 47 and 5 years in prison for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, a class 2 felony, in 17 CF 137. The two prison sentences are ordered to be served consecutively.

People v. Phillip Elwood, 18 CF 50: On April 4, 2018, Associate Judge William Workman accepted a fully negotiated plea agreement sentencing Phillip Elwood to a term of 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer, a class 4 felony.
