SPRINGFIELD
Memorial Medical Center will host a free program on stroke on
Tuesday, May 15, in the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation
(MCLI).
The program, “Time is Brain: Stroke Prevention, Intervention and
Recovery,” begins at 6 p.m. with a panel discussion led by five
physicians followed by a question-and-answer session.
The physicians are Dr. Nicole Florence, an internal medicine
physician with Memorial Physician Services-Koke Mill; Dr. David
Gelber, who specializes in neurology and rehabilitative medicine
with Springfield Clinic; Dr. Douglas Hood, a vascular surgeon with
SIU Medicine; Dr. Sajjad Mueed, a neurologist with SIU Medicine; and
Dr. Casey Muehle, an interventional radiologist with Clinical
Radiologists.

Before the panel discussion, at 5 p.m., participants can take advantage of free
health screenings for balance, blood pressure and aneurysms. Information will be
available about home health assistive devices, nutrition, heart health and
modifiable risk factors for stroke.
The program will be in the M.G. Nelson Family Auditorium on the MCLI's first
floor. The MCLI is at 228 W. Miller St., at the southeast corner of Rutledge and
Miller streets. Free parking is available in the parking garage south of the
MCLI at Rutledge and Carpenter streets. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
