[May 05, 2018]    Sebastian Giovinco had a goal and an assist for Toronto FC in a 3-0 win against the Philadelphia Union at BMO Field on Friday.

Victor Vazquez put Toronto (2-4-1) ahead 1-0 in the 28th minute and Giovinco thrilled the home fans with his first goal of the season in the 65th minute. Jay Chapman, who entered in the 78th minute, scored in the 89th.

Philadelphia (2-4-2) has been outscored 8-0 in losing all three of its road matches.

Giovinco got the insurance score with his 56th goal in his 91st MLS regular season match.

He took a pass from Jonathan Osorio just outside the box and dribbled left, right and left again before stumbling a bit. He regained his footing to score for the sixth time in seven games against the Union.

Chapman, from Brampton, Ontario, then got his first of the season.

Vazquez put Toronto ahead 1-0 in the 28th minute for his second goal in as many games. Giovinco found a seam and got the ball to Nicolas Hasler on the right side of the penalty area. Vazquez started his run down the middle and slotted the shot off the left post.

While it was the lone score of the half, Philadelphia had several chances.

In the 10th minute, midfielder Alejandro Bedoya's header from 7 yards hit the crossbar off a corner kick. In the 35th, Toronto keeper Alex Bono denied Bedoya the equalizer when he stretched right to get his hand on a shot targeted for the far post.

Bono made three saves for his first shutout of the season. He had 10 of his 15 career clean sheets last season. Andre Blake had five saves for Philadelphia.

Both teams next play on Wednesday when Toronto hosts the Seattle Sounders and Philadelphia is at the Columbus Crew.
