[May 07, 2018]  Dexter Fowler's two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the 14th inning early Monday morning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 4-3 win over the visiting Chicago Cubs.

Harrison Bader started the winning rally with an infield single off Luke Farrell (0-2). Fowler followed by golfing a 2-2 fastball off the top of the right field wall and into the seats for his fifth homer and the Cardinals' fifth walk-off win in 17 home games.

The Cardinals swept the three-game weekend series. The finale lasted 4:46 and was delayed twice in the first three innings by rain for a total of 59 minutes.

Mike Mayers (1-0) got the win despite allowing Javier Baez's ninth homer in the top of the 14th that gave Chicago a brief 3-2 edge. However, Fowler's dramatics extended St. Louis' winning streak to five games and the Cubs' losing streak to five games.

Yankees 7, Indians 4

Rookie Gleyber Torres hit a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as New York erased a four-run deficit and recorded a stunning victory over visiting Cleveland.

Torres lifted Dan Otero's full-count sinker into Yankees bullpen beyond the right-center field wall. His first career walk-off hit gave the Yankees a sixth straight win and 15th in 16 games since April 20.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, at 21 years, 144 days old, Torres is the youngest Yankee to hit a walk-off homer. The mark was previously held by Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle (21 years, 185 days old).

Diamondbacks 3, Astros 1

Arizona's A.J. Pollock had two hits and drove in two runs, and Justin Verlander took his first regular-season loss since joining Houston last August as the Diamondbacks earned a victory in Phoenix.

Pollock tripled in a run in the sixth inning and continued home to score when Houston third baseman Alex Bregman was called for obstruction. He singled home an insurance run in the eighth inning as the Diamondbacks extended their streak of unbeaten series to 11. They are 10-0-1 in series during that span.

Verlander (4-1) gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) in six innings, with eight strikeouts and three walks. He had been 13-0 in regular-season starts over parts of two seasons with the Astros.

Nationals 5, Phillies 4

Max Scherzer struck out 15 in 6 1/3 innings, and Wilmer Difo produced a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth as Washington rallied for a victory over visiting Philadelphia.

The Nationals loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth, and Hector Neris (1-2) walked pinch hitter Pedro Severino to force in the tying run. With five Phillies playing in the infield, Difo lined a game-winning single to center.

Scherzer allowed one run on five hits and two walks in a no-decision.

Angels 8, Mariners 2

Shohei Ohtani pitched effectively, and Mike Trout hit his 12th home run of the season as Los Angeles won at Seattle.

Ohtani (3-1), making his first start on the mound since April 24 because of a mild left ankle sprain, took a shutout into the seventh inning. He wound up allowing two runs, both on a Ryon Healy homer, in six-plus innings.

Trout's three-run shot in the sixth inning off Mariners reliever Chasen Bradford extended Los Angeles' lead to 6-0. The Angels improved to 13-3 on the road, taking two of three games in Seattle.

Rockies 3, Mets 2

Ian Desmond's second solo homer of the game snapped an eighth-inning tie and lifted Colorado to a win at New York and a sweep of the three-game series.

The Rockies won the final five games of a nine-game road trip and finished 6-3 on the first of their three nine-game trips this season. The Mets finished 0-6 on a six-game homestand and have lost 14 of 20 following an 11-1 start.

The two-homer game was Desmond's second as a member of the Rockies. His first homer Sunday cut the Mets' lead to 2-1 in the second inning.
