[May 10, 2018]    West Lincoln-Broadwell joins the caravan to East Peoria on Friday morning. Track coaches Kari Froebe and Tiffany Battin have a total of nine athletes participating in the 2018 IESA Class A State Track and Field Meet at EastSide Centre in East Peoria.

Ally Battin, Kloe Froebe, Becca Heitzig, Jenna Bowman and Elly Martinez are ready to represent WLB this weekend at State.

Representing the boys will be Brody Whiteman (high jump), Daulton Miller (high jump), Scotty Battin (hurdles) and Brenden Heitzig (1600m).

The girls from WLB are familiar names to all sports. Running the 4x400m relay will be Kloe Froebe, Jenna Bowman, Elly Martinez and Becca Heitzig. These four ran ahead of the pack on Saturday at the Sectional 17 in Mason City with a time of 4:39.71.

The alternate on the relay team is Ally Battin.

Froebe will also run the 400m at State. Froebe broke her sister Kaelyn's record this season in the 400m. Saturday the younger Froebe ran the 400m in 1:03.43. Froebe will also compete in the 100m hurdles at State.

In addition to the 4x400m relay, Heitzig will also run the 800m and 1600m at State. Small and mighty, this young lady is awesome. She finished in first place in both events on Saturday. Her time in the 800m was 2:38.38 and her time in the 1600m was 5:44.41. What an athlete!

These young ladies are a big reason why WLB seventh grade girls brought home a second place Sectional 17 plaque on Saturday.

Congratulations to all the WLB athletes going to State and good luck!
