Railers knock off Pleasant Plains 6-1 as Colton Holliday pitches a gem

[May 10, 2018]    The Lincoln Railers Varsity defeated Pleasant Plains Wednesday afternoon by a score of 6-1 in a game that ended with a downpour after five innings. The Railers snapped the Cardinals six-game winning streak.

 

The Railers have now won two ballgames in a row.

Colton Holliday had a terrific outing on the mound and he earned the win for Lincoln. Holliday surrendered one run on five hits over five innings, striking out three batters.

Joel Niermann was on the mound for Pleasant Plains. He lasted five innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out eight and walking one.

Lincoln led 5-0 after four innings of play. Each team scored a run in the fifth inning before the wet weather popped up and forced everyone to run for cover.

Nate Arnold was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI to lead Lincoln's offense.

Holliday, Dreyden Pozsgai and Drew Singleton added hits for Lincoln. Holliday also drove in a run for Lincoln.

Lincoln will play at Chatham today at 4:30 p.m.

The Railers host a doubleheader with Taylorville on Saturday.
